freaking out

Having a meltdown

Freaking out is losing composure—panicking, becoming extremely agitated, or reacting with intense emotion: Don't freak out, but I just saw your ex walk in.

The reaction can be negative (anxiety, anger) or positive (excitement): She freaked out when she got the acceptance letter.

To freak someone out is to disturb or unsettle them: That movie really freaked me out.
