Drawn deceptively shorter
Foreshortened describes something shown or seen as compressed in depth, appearing shorter than it actually is.
In art, foreshortening is a technique where objects extending toward the viewer are drawn compressed to create the illusion of three-dimensional space: The painter foreshortened the outstretched arm.
More broadly, anything abbreviated or cut short may be foreshortened: a foreshortened career, a foreshortened view of history.
