Floorwalkers are department store employees who supervise sales staff and assist customers on the sales floor.
The role was more prominent in the era of large urban department stores, when floorwalkers would circulate through their assigned sections, answering questions and directing shoppers: The floorwalker pointed her toward ladies' hosiery.
The position has largely disappeared with changes in retail.
