flat-out speed
Absolute top pace
Flat-out speed is maximum velocity—as fast as something can possibly go.
The phrase comes from pressing an accelerator flat to the floor: The car hit flat-out speed on the straightaway.
It emphasizes that nothing is held back, no reserves remain.
