feigned humility
Pretended self-deprecation
Feigned humility is a false display of modesty, typically masking pride or fishing for compliments.
Someone practicing feigned humility downplays accomplishments while hoping others will contradict them: Oh, it was nothing—I just got lucky, said while awaiting praise.
The performance is transparent to observers but often invisible to the performer.
