experience point
Gaming progress unit
Experience points are units of progress in video games and role-playing games, accumulated through combat, completing quests, or other achievements.
When enough experience points accumulate, a character advances to the next level, gaining new abilities or improved stats.
Often abbreviated XP or EXP: I need 500 more XP to level up.
The concept has spread beyond gaming to apps that gamify learning or fitness.
