exhibition catalogue

An exhibition catalogue is a book or booklet published to accompany an art exhibition, documenting the works on display and typically including essays, artist biographies, and illustrations.

These publications serve as both guides during the exhibition and permanent records afterward: The museum shop sold out of exhibition catalogues on opening night.

Scholarly catalogues for major shows become important reference works in art history.
