ethnic groceries
International food shops
Ethnic groceries are food products associated with a particular cultural or national cuisine, or the stores that sell them.
The term typically refers to ingredients outside the mainstream offerings of conventional supermarkets: The Asian grocery has better produce than the regular store.
What counts as "ethnic" shifts with perspective—to an American, it might mean Mexican spices or Korean noodles; the category implicitly positions one cuisine as default and others as foreign.
