endgate

Truck bed barrier

An endgate is the hinged rear panel of a truck bed, wagon, or trailer that swings down or opens outward for loading and unloading cargo.

The term is largely synonymous with tailgate, though endgate appears more often in agricultural and older usage: He lowered the endgate and slid the hay bales out.
