economy model
No-frills basic option
An economy model is a cheaper, no-frills version of a product—stripped of premium features to hit a lower price point.
The term appears most often with cars and appliances: They bought the economy model to save a few thousand dollars.
Economy here means thrift or cost-saving, not the financial system.
