dry mix

Batter before liquid

A dry mix is a pre-measured combination of dry ingredients sold as a convenience product—just add wet ingredients and cook.

Cake mix, pancake mix, and brownie mix are common examples: I used a dry mix instead of making it from scratch.

The term also applies to cocktail mixes, concrete, and other products requiring only the addition of liquid.
