drum break
Rhythmic solo section
A drum break is a section of a song where other instruments drop out, leaving only the drums—typically a few bars of isolated percussion.
These passages became the foundation of hip-hop and electronic music, as producers sampled and looped them to create new beats.
The "Amen break," a six-second drum solo from a 1969 funk track, is the most famous and widely sampled drum break in music history.
