drug safety
Pharmaceutical harm prevention
Drug safety is the science and practice of monitoring medications for harmful effects and ensuring they don't pose unacceptable risks to patients.
It encompasses clinical trials before approval, ongoing surveillance after a drug reaches the market, and systems for reporting adverse reactions: The FDA's drug safety division issued a warning about the painkiller.
Also called pharmacovigilance.
