dharmakaya

Buddha's formless essence

Dharmakaya is a Buddhist term for the ultimate, formless aspect of Buddha-nature—reality itself, beyond all particular forms and appearances.

In Mahayana Buddhism, it is one of three "bodies" of the Buddha, representing the truth body or essence that underlies all phenomena.

The dharmakaya is unborn, unchanging, and identical with enlightenment itself: Through meditation, one realizes the dharmakaya was never separate from one's own mind.
