destaffing
Cutting employee numbers
Destaffing is the reduction of personnel, typically through layoffs or attrition.
The term appears in corporate and institutional contexts as a more clinical alternative to "layoffs" or "downsizing": The hospital's destaffing plan will eliminate three hundred positions over two years.
Like similar euphemisms, it distances the action from its human impact.
