deindustrialised
Manufacturing sector collapsed
Deindustrialised describes a place or economy that has lost its industrial base—factories closed, manufacturing jobs gone, heavy industry relocated or obsolete.
The term often carries connotations of decline and economic hardship: deindustrialised cities in the Rust Belt, a deindustrialised region struggling to reinvent itself.
