A decongestant spray is a nasal medication that shrinks swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages, providing temporary relief from stuffiness caused by colds, allergies, or sinus infections.
Most contain oxymetazoline or phenylephrine.
Overuse beyond a few days can cause rebound congestion, where the nose becomes more blocked than before: Don't use that decongestant spray for more than three days.
