cup check
Groin guard verification
A cup check is a sudden strike or grab to a male's groin, typically performed as a prank among boys or young men to test whether they're wearing a protective athletic cup—or simply to cause discomfort and amusement: He gave his teammate a cup check in the locker room.
The term also describes the act of verifying that players are wearing required protective gear before competition.
