crib notes
Illicit exam aid
Crib notes are condensed study materials, often illicitly prepared for use during an exam.
The term comes from crib meaning to copy or plagiarize.
Students write key facts on small pieces of paper to smuggle into tests: She got caught with crib notes in her sleeve.
Outside cheating contexts, crib notes can simply mean quick reference summaries.
