creepy crawlers
Tiny leggy creatures
Creepy crawlers are small creatures that provoke unease—insects, spiders, worms, and similar invertebrates that crawl or skitter.
The phrase emphasizes the instinctive discomfort many people feel around such animals: The basement was full of creepy crawlers.
Children use the term for any bug that makes them squirm.
Creepy-Crawlers was also a toy brand for making rubbery fake insects.
