cooling fins
Thermal surface extensions
Cooling fins are thin, often parallel projections extending from a surface to dissipate heat more efficiently.
Found on engines, radiators, heat sinks, and electronic components, they work by increasing the surface area exposed to air or another cooling medium.
The motorcycle's engine has aluminum cooling fins that keep it from overheating.
The design allows heat to transfer away from the core component faster than a smooth surface would permit.
