contemporary satire
Current social commentary
Contemporary satire is humor that critiques current events, politics, or cultural trends through irony, exaggeration, or ridicule.
The term distinguishes modern satirical work—late-night comedy, social media parody, satirical news sites—from classical or historical forms: The Onion is contemporary satire; Jonathan Swift is not.
The adjective contemporary shifts with time, always meaning roughly "of the present era."
