contemporary composers
Today's music creators
Contemporary composers are musicians who write original music in the present era, typically from the mid-20th century onward.
The term usually refers to those working in classical or art music traditions rather than popular genres: The festival featured works by contemporary composers exploring electronic and acoustic fusion.
Contemporary distinguishes living or recently active composers from historical figures like Bach or Beethoven.
