common warts
Rough skin growths
Common warts are small, rough, raised growths on the skin caused by human papillomavirus (HPV).
They typically appear on hands and fingers, with a grainy texture and sometimes tiny black dots (clotted blood vessels).
Generally harmless and often resolving on their own, they spread through direct contact or touching contaminated surfaces: The dermatologist froze off the common warts on her knuckles.
