color commentators
Game broadcast analysts
Color commentators are broadcast analysts who supplement play-by-play announcers during sports events.
While the play-by-play announcer describes the action, the color commentator provides expert analysis, background stories, and insider perspective—adding "color" to the broadcast.
Most are former players or coaches: The color commentators broke down why the defense collapsed on that play.
