Shared flight numbers
Codeshares are flights operated by one airline but marketed and sold under another airline's flight number.
The arrangement lets airlines expand their networks without flying additional routes themselves.
When you book a codeshare, you might purchase from Airline A but fly on Airline B's aircraft with Airline B's crew: I didn't realize my United ticket was a codeshare operated by Lufthansa.
