cloud layers
Stacked sky formations
Cloud layers are distinct horizontal strata of clouds at different altitudes, often visible as separate bands in the sky.
Meteorologists describe sky conditions by cloud layers: scattered clouds at 3,000 feet, broken layer at 8,000.
Pilots navigate through or between layers, and weather reports specify how many layers exist and at what heights.
