close-up magic
Intimate sleight performances
Close-up magic is sleight-of-hand performance done at intimate distances, typically at a table or in someone's hands.
The magician works with small objects—cards, coins, rings, small balls—close enough for spectators to watch carefully yet still be fooled.
The proximity makes it more impressive than stage illusions: He does close-up magic at private parties.
