chlorine taste
Tap water's bite
The sharp, slightly metallic flavor associated with chlorinated water, commonly noticed in tap water or swimming pools.
Municipal water supplies add chlorine to kill bacteria, leaving a detectable taste that varies by location and season: The chlorine taste was stronger than usual this morning.
Some people find it unpleasant enough to use filters or let water sit before drinking.
