Chatting shit is British slang with two main senses.
The first is talking nonsense or saying things that aren't true: He's chatting shit—that never happened.
The second is gossiping or talking idly, often disparagingly about someone: They were just chatting shit about the neighbors.
Sometimes spelled *chattin' shit*.
