candlepin

Slender bowling target

Candlepin is a style of bowling played mainly in New England and the Canadian Maritimes.

The pins are tall and narrow—shaped somewhat like candles—and the balls are small enough to hold in one hand.

Players get three rolls per frame instead of two, and fallen pins aren't cleared between rolls.

She grew up bowling candlepin and found tenpin awkward.
