by name
Using their title
By name means using someone's or something's actual name rather than a general reference.
To know someone by name is to know what they're called, though not necessarily to know them personally.
To call someone by name is to address them directly: The teacher called on students by name.
By name can also mean by reputation: I know her by name but we've never met.
