Accidentally phoned someone
To butt dial someone is to accidentally call them when your phone, usually in a back pocket, gets pressed against your body.
The recipient hears muffled sounds, fragments of conversation, or silence.
I butt dialed my boss during dinner and she heard me complaining about work.
The term emerged with mobile phones and is sometimes called pocket dialing.
It can also be used as a noun: Sorry about the butt dial earlier.
