brow ridges

Orbital bone prominences

Brow ridges are the bony prominences above the eye sockets, forming a ridge across the forehead.

In humans, they're relatively subtle compared to earlier hominids and other primates, where they're often pronounced: Neanderthals had heavy brow ridges.

Also called supraorbital ridges in anatomical contexts.
