broadcast delays
Airwave timing gaps
Broadcast delays are short time lags—typically a few seconds to a few minutes—built into live television or radio transmissions.
The delay allows producers to cut or bleep unexpected content before it reaches viewers: profanity, wardrobe malfunctions, or other material that might violate broadcast standards.
The network uses a seven-second delay for live events.
Also called tape delays or dump delays.
