brewed up

Prepared hot drinks

Brewed up is the past tense of brew up, meaning to prepare tea or coffee, especially in British usage: We brewed up some tea while waiting for the rain to stop.

It also means to develop or gather strength, typically said of storms or trouble: A controversy had brewed up over the proposed changes.

In military slang, particularly British, a tank that's brewed up has caught fire or exploded after being hit.
