breakout groups
Smaller meeting segments
Breakout groups are smaller units formed when a larger gathering divides for focused discussion or work.
Common in workshops, conferences, and virtual meetings, they allow more intimate conversation than the full assembly permits: We'll split into breakout groups to discuss the case study, then reconvene.
The term comes from the idea of breaking out of the main session.
