bounce light
Redirected photographic lighting
Bounce light is light redirected off a surface rather than aimed directly at a subject.
Photographers and filmmakers bounce light off ceilings, walls, or reflectors to create softer, more diffused illumination that reduces harsh shadows: I bounced the flash off the ceiling for a more natural look.
The technique mimics how light behaves in everyday environments.
