boringness

State of tedium

Boringness is the quality of being boring—the capacity to induce tedium, disinterest, or mental fatigue in others.

While boredom describes what the sufferer feels, boringness describes what causes it.

The term is slightly awkward and often avoided in favor of phrases like how boring it is or the tedium of, but it fills a legitimate gap when you need a noun for the trait itself: The boringness of the lecture was almost impressive.
