bird nesting
Building a nest
Bird nesting is a custody arrangement where children remain in the family home while divorced or separated parents rotate in and out on a schedule.
The parents "nest" around the children rather than shuttling kids between two households: We're trying bird nesting so the kids can stay in their school district.
Also called nesting.
