benchings
Removing from play
Benchings is the plural of benching, the act of being put on the bench—kept out of play in sports, or more broadly, sidelined from participation.
In dating slang, benching means keeping someone as a backup option rather than committing or cutting them loose: I'm tired of his benchings—he only texts when his other options fall through.
