belt up
Secure your strap
Belt up has two distinct meanings in British English.
The first is to fasten a seat belt: Belt up, we're about to take off.
The second is a blunt command to stop talking—equivalent to "shut up": Oh, belt up, will you?
The imperative form dominates both uses.
