begorrah
Mild Hibernian oath
Begorrah is an Irish exclamation, a euphemistic alteration of "by God" used to express surprise or emphasis: Begorrah, I nearly forgot!
The word appears almost exclusively as a stage-Irish stereotype—the exaggerated brogue of leprechauns and old Hollywood.
Actual Irish people rarely use it except ironically.
