ballhead
Spherical tripod joint
A ballhead is a type of tripod mount that uses a ball-and-socket joint, allowing a camera to be positioned at virtually any angle with a single adjustment.
Photographers favor ballheads for their speed and versatility compared to pan-tilt heads: I switched to a ballhead for landscape work.
The term also appears as an insult meaning someone bald or stupid, though this use is uncommon.
