at any rate
Whatever the case
At any rate is a phrase used to refocus or conclude a point, often after a digression or uncertainty.
It can mean "in any case" or "regardless of other considerations": At any rate, we need to make a decision by Friday.
It sometimes softens a return to the main topic: I don't know if he's qualified—at any rate, he got the job.
