artist proofs
Painter's personal prints
Artist proofs are prints from a limited edition reserved for the artist rather than numbered for sale.
Traditionally comprising about ten percent of a print run, they're marked "A.P." or "A/P" and considered more valuable by collectors because of their scarcity and closer association with the artist.
She kept the artist proofs for herself and sold the numbered editions.
