apostil
Comment in margin
An apostil (also apostille) is a certification that authenticates a document for use in another country.
Under the Hague Convention, an apostil from one member nation is recognized by all others, simplifying international paperwork: The birth certificate needed an apostil before the foreign embassy would accept it.
The term comes from a word meaning annotation or marginal note.
