ant swarm
Insect army mobilizes
An ant swarm is a large, dense gathering of ants moving together, typically during mating season when winged reproductive ants emerge en masse to mate and establish new colonies.
The term also describes aggressive group behavior when ants defend territory or overwhelm prey: We walked into an ant swarm near the fallen log.
Figuratively, any chaotic mass of small moving things or people: an ant swarm of children poured onto the playground.
