akinetic
Lacking voluntary motion
Akinetic describes the absence or loss of normal movement.
In medicine, it characterizes conditions where voluntary motion is impaired or absent: akinetic mutism, akinetic seizures.
The term appears in neurology for movement disorders, particularly those affecting the basal ganglia.
An akinetic patient may be conscious but unable to initiate movement.
