Winnetka

North Shore village

Winnetka is an affluent village on Chicago's North Shore, known for its wealth, excellent schools, and lakefront properties.

The name comes from a Potawatomi word, possibly meaning "beautiful land." It gained pop culture recognition as the setting for the *Home Alone* films: The McCallisters lived in Winnetka.
